CONGRATULATIONS TO PAST PUPIL OF KILVEMNON NS; PAUL CURRAN
'The Nationalist' South Tipperary GAA Player of the Year Awards
HURLER OF THE YEAR
Paul Curran (Mullinahone)
Grandson of Rody Curran who played on Mullinahone's first hurling championship winning team in 1940 and a member of a family which continues to give tremendous service to club and county, he was a fine underage footballer and hurler winning numerous championships. He was a member of the only South Tipperary under 16 hurling team ever to win the Munster (A) championship in 1987 and he won a Munster minor medal with Tipperary in 1999 before progressing to the under 21 side.
He made the Fitzgibbon Cup winning Waterford I.T. team as a "fresher" in 2000 and captained them to victory in 2003. He played his first senior championship game against Offaly in 2002 having part of the extended panel All-Ireland winning panel of 2001. Last year he played a major role in Tipperary's National League and Munster Championship successes and his consistently outstanding performances had him on the short list for an all-Star award. At club level he has great memories of 2002 when in the space of eight days leading up to his 21st birthday he was one of the heroes of the Mullinahone team which captured county senior honours when defeating Thurles Sarsfields in a replay.
Also a fine footballer, Paul Curran has been a wonderful servant to club and county and perhaps the best days are yet to come from a man who now joins the illustrious company of John Leahy, Brian O'Meara, Eoin Kelly and Paul Kelly as Mullinahone winners of this award.

Lots of our parents and coaches from the local GAA and soccer clubs and our teachers and SNAs were also with us on the night. There was also a great turn out from County Councillers and representatives of the government. After that the Green Flag was raised by Nicky Brennan. It was great fun. Then we had a bit of a party with food and drinks. There were crisps, drinks, bars, sandwiches and cocktail sausages. Then I went out and played with ....., Dannan, Matilda, Rose and Smiley. ....., Matilda, Rose and I made up a dance to the song ring ring ring ring ring ring banana phone. Congrats to Shane McGrath

Congratulations to Tipperary hurler Shane McGrath who was named the Vodafone GAA All Stars Player of the Month for April.
Shane visited us in the school a couple of months ago with GPO Johhny Cummins. The photo above is of the Senior Room during a training session with Shane.
He was presented with his award at a reception in Dublin’s Westbury Hotel by GAA President Nickey Brennan.
Midfielder McGrath was instrumental in Tipp’s run to League glory and is seen as one of the most promising young players in the game. The Ballinahinch club man starred as Liam Sheedy’s men outscored Ger Loughnane’s Galway in a thrilling league final in Limerick in April.
